Dry Fire training plan / no SCATT

Post by agatek »

Hi,
You gave me a ton of amazing advice on the grip which made a massive difference. Thank you!

Now I'm coming with a request to help me put together a reasonable dry fire in home training (no SCATT).

I have a trainer in my small town club, but I'm not getting sufficient advice on this from him (I know what you will say - I'm considering looking around for a change, but another club is quite a distance away which impacts the ability to shoot 3x a week).

But in the meantime, I want to work on the dry fire routine.

I have looked around the websites, consulted chat GPT, and many other materials, and I've come up with this plan:

Holds:
- full shot cycle, then 30 sec hold - 25 reps x 30 sec;
- 1 min hold - 5 reps

Shot cycles:
- 4x 10 shot cycles focusing on alternating days on breath and aiming, or follow through or trigger release (with or without a coin)
- 4x 10 shot cycles (full shot cycle focus)

I also do live fire at the club, 2-3x week (with the trainer).

Am I missing something in the dry fire?

How do you manage the dry fire rep counting? My mind is counting incorrectly, which is both useless, and distracting. Should I use a pen to write down the reps? (is it a silly question?)

I use a tally counter available on Amazon for around $7.00.
