Men's 10m Olympic final ?

I was watching the Olympic mens 10m air rifle finals again yesterday (on tape) and noticed, with some amazement, that the winner (Zhu Qinan) changed his rear sight setting on four different occasions during the ten shots! He had adjustments to both the horizontal, and vertical screws, once immediately before his 1st shot, and three times during the next nine shots. And those were only the adjustments I happened to see while the camera was on him.

Is this sort of tinkering with sights normal?

It certainly didn't concern him, he set a new Olympic record, and cruised through the finals to gold.

I have watched most of the video clips on the ISSF site, and this type of behavior seems common. Watch them and you will see most shooters making some adjustments. I guess if your hold is a 10.9 and your shot is a 10.6, you might want to make an adjustment. Not anything I'm capable of yet.

They use the very simple phrase:

aimed at a 10.9, shot at the 10.9 but no 10.9 on the scoreboard???

ADJUST!!!
