Thanks for posting the pictures!
I think it was Staale Waagbo that also was not to happy about using a compensator on the FP. It had to be cleaned very often.

The current compensator design is good for several hundred rounds between cleanings, and it's not that hard to clean either. I base this statement on shooting Eley Target Pistol (yellow box), and have gone 300 rounds without cleaning mine. I didn't notice any performance change. After 300 rounds I pulled the comp off and cleaned it without too much difficulty (about 5-10 minutes of Q-tips and Hoppes No. 9). Could probably have gone at least double that number of shots, but I guess I'm a "clean fanatic"!
I have the impression that earlier CM-84's featured a compensator which may have had smaller ports and may have clogged up more quickly. I'd welcome any facts to confirm or deny this impression.
