NG 30x50 Spotting Scope

Post by Swoffer »

Has anyone used the NG 30x50 spotting scope for 50m pistol? I have the smaller 20x33 which is great for 20m events but I am struggling to see the holes in the black at 50m and wondered if the 30x will make an appreciable difference? TIA

I don't know, but a stronger eyepiece on your present scope may do the job (cheaper). Can you borrow one to try?

The 30x is a substantial improvement over the 20x for 50m. I would say it's the minimum for that distance.
Several shooters here have the NG 20x (mainly for 25m) and NG 30x (for 25m and 50m). There is a considerable difference at 50m between them.
On a sunny day, you might get by with the 20x, but everything else it's a struggle.
There are two who have the rarer NG 40x60 that is perfect for 50m (I'm one of them!!).
Although, for the price of the NG 30x50 I would look at the KOWA TSN-501 that as a variable magnification 20x to 40x.
But it may depend on availability and pricing were you are.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the comments. I decided to purchase the Kowa as it is so much cheaper than the NG and more powerful magnification for my older eyes.
