BAKU, AZE- (Aug 20, 2023) – Dania Vizzi, of Tampa, Florida, claims the silver medal in Women’s Skeet at the 2023 International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug. 18.

Vizzi finished the qualification round with a score of 122/125 and had a shoot off with teammate Austen Smith, who finished with the same score. The two Americans shot to determine their rank going into the finals. Samantha Simonton also competed in a shoot off and earned herself a spot among the top six finalists.

In the finals, Vizzi, an eight-time ISSF World Cup medalist, beat Emmanouela Katzouraki, of Greece, who finished third. Vizzi and Danka Bartekova, of Slovakia, were the final two women standing and battled for the World Championship title in a shoot off. After 11 targets, Bartekova claimed the gold medal, and Vizzi the silver.

Simonton finished in fourth place after edging out Smith, who finished fifth. Vizzi, Smith, and Simonton also earned gold for Women’s Skeet Team with their combined scores from the qualification round. The trio also set a new Women’s Skeet Team world with a score of 365 targets out of 375.
