After a Spotting Scope recommendation for 25m

Post by Julie Sanders »

Hi all,

After a Spotting Scope recommendation for 25m.

Don't want to pay an exorbitant price for the best of the best glass, just a scope to easily pick out a .22 hole.

I have no affiliation to the seller, was just the first hit when I googled NG20x33 spotting scope

Potter firearms have them in Aus, a bit pricier though!

I bought the 29 dollar on sale scope at harbor freight. Its quite serviceable indoors at 10 meter and 25 yards, really bright and has great focusing.....

A 20X should be enough power for that distance, get a single not a variable power. I have an Alpen Mini 20X50 straight scope, very clear and can see .22 holes very well at 25 meters and at 50 with out direct light on target.

I bought a 20-60X with a 60mm objective for $109 on amazon. Gosky branded.
I use it for 25 and 50. It claims to be HD glass. Its not Swarovski, but it works well, even in the rain.

As I wanted to get something small for my box, and did not want to spend a fortune, I got https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9S6W5S
Works pretty well, though not very clear for .22 at 50 yards. Everything closer or bigger holes - very good

I had spotting scope on table, and free hand image stabilizing binocular.

Both work equally well, but more fun with imagine stabilizing binocular. Looking at moon crater, Saturn ring, bikinis on beach, or just looking at tree leaves heaving.

Works wonder on paper targets.

I had a Canon.

But will get this https://www.sigsauer.com/zulu6-16x42-mm.html for Christmas.

I’ve used a NG for years and am quite happy with its performance. Plus I live quite close to Canadian dealer.

I have recently been looking at affordable compact spotting scopes for new shooters at our 20 yard range and the Pentax Monocular has peaked my interest. At at half to a third the price of an NG it might be an option.
