SIUS Pellet Trap

Post by rpm »

Before buying my SIUS Target with the pellet trap I fired paper targets mounted to a silent pellet trap. All my lead collected inside the trap. Since using the SIUS pellet trap I have lead fragments all over the floor. I estimate that 3% of the pellet weight is falling outside of the pellet cup.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so have you come up with a way of preventing it?

We just sweep it up. I would think one could also use a plastic bag, secured by a rubber band, around the collection cup and disposal chute. Or, perhaps just add some tape around the space between the chute and the collection cup.

A more elegant approach would be to fashion a gasket- sufficient in length to go round the inside of the cup (and wide enough to secure inside the cup while sticking up about an inch all the way around) so as when the cup is installed the gasket sticks up into the chute preventing overspray.
