Centra Rear Sight Comparison

Post by imadoctornota »

I have noted that the Pardini GPR1 air rifle offers an even more expensive version including a Centra Spy Short rear sight rather than a Centra Pro 57 offered for the less expensive models. Does anyone know how much benefit is afforded by the other sight, or rather how much value comes with more expensive rear sights?

The Spy's USP is being very low profile. The shooter can see more of the range around the Spy than around the Pro57; this can help with lining up on the right target, or seeing wind flags in 50m/300m matches. The Pro57 is very good value, but it's relatively bulky; it's a tube sight, so the turrets press the eyepiece against a spring plunger. This gives repeatable clicks at a price, as there is less machining, but at the cost of bulkiness and a more limited range of adjustment.

Both will accept standard iris/filter eyepieces. If your budget covers the Spy , it's a top quality product, if not the Pro57 will let you aim and click, it's just not so pretty and low profile.
