ELEY High School All American Program Recognizes ASSA Nationals

With Covid-19 and the subsequent postponement of several key matches used to determine ELEY High School All American status, ELEY has extended the deadline for submitting nominations and added the 2020 ASSA National 3-Position Rifle Championships as a qualifying competition. If the shooter fires both 3P matches with iron sights, both scores can be submitted. The athlete should visit the ELEY tent to notify ELEY HS All American Program administrator, Michele Makucevich, prior to shooting irons on the any sights day so this may be witnessed. (NOTE: 3 scores are necessary and the state level Junior Olympics may be combined with the ASSA Nationals to fulfill this requirement.)

Currently USA Shooting has scheduled the Smallbore Olympic Trials Part 2, and is considering holding the National Junior Olympic Rifle and Air Rifle Championships and USAS National Smallbore Championships in the fall time frame.

The last match of eligibility will still be the USA Shooting Nationals, if held, and scores from this event will be recorded and calculated by ELEY personnel at the match for final tabulation and the presentation of awards in conjunction with the competition awards. Should this match be cancelled, awards will be mailed to the athlete nominators for presentation.

As a special exception recognizing that these matches were delayed from their normal time frame, members of the graduating high school class of 2020 remain eligible even if they’ve already begun their collegiate careers.
