I'll stick my neck out here and say, nothing. fmj or fmc refers to the gilding metal that surrounds the bullet core, usually lead or mild steel normally available in commercial bullets.

Just watch out for "TMJ". "Total" metal jacket refers to tumble or barrel plated lead bullets. They usually shoot about like the base lead bullets, but they have all of their sharp edges rounded off. Doing that to the base really opens up groups at fifty yards.
Fine for IPSC or IDPA, etc. Just no improvement over lead for "long line" conventional or even hardball.
