Of all the acceptable putties / fillers in the world does it have to be that one? What's so special about it?

Go to the hardware store and buy a cylinder of kneadable epoxy in any of the hot new decorator colors that strike your fancy.

It looks a lot like the QuikWood I've used.

It (or similar products) are widely available at hardware stores, Home depot, Lowes & specialty woodworking suppliers.

JB Kwikwood and PC Lumber Are the two most common wood filler epoxy putties in the US and online. They are easy to mold and easy to sand / carve. One or both are available at my local hardware and home stores as well as Amazon and other online sources. JB Weld, Bondo, plumbers putties, steel putties and other epoxy putties are (IMO) too hard.

I am sure all the top shooters use either Morini or Rink grip putty. It may be the same thing, but it has to be worth a few more points than cheap stuff the local hardware store or Amazon. Right?

What is the grip itself made of? It really does not look like wood.

The grip appears to be made from extremely thick equipment control stickers.

I am stunned, William actually has some sense of humor. There is hope for humanity.

I do not know, probably nothing. I just gave this photo as an example.
