2 quick things:

- I think we do have the coaching talent right here already; I agree that we also probably have the athlete talent already; but both factors are present more by their "Potential" at the moment. I don't think we are fully utilizing the "Potential" we already have. I agree with Coach Z on the main points . . . and those of you who have heard me argue in the past against "socialist solutions" (uh oh Richad) may be surprised to hear that I actually *do* agree with Z on the issue of "unsupported shooters not being able to reach their full potential" as a result of our current "system" in the USA.

As a professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, perhaps I should be looking for a faculty position at the Merchant Marine Academy . . . =;^)

2. I think I understand the trade-offs being considered with the philosophy of "early selection" vs. "late selection" matches. There are real downsides to early selection; I have already agreed with Master Z on that one also. To truly select those athletes with the best chance of winning, we should hold our final selections as late as possible. However, one theory may hold that by selecting early, you have more time to prepare the athletes for competition and this adds stability to the process. Since I wasn't "in" on the debate about the date selection, this is all rank speculation.

Any word yet on the process for designing the process for selecting athletes for 2012?
