Differences in centra rear sights

Post by Guest »

Hi,
I'm wondering what are the differences between two centra rear sights:
3.0 filter and 1.8 filter? They are the same price, same filters, the only thing that differ them is that one of them is 0.5 - 3.0 mm and the other one is 0.8 - 1.8 mm.
Why is that? What better if any?

Thank you and good day!

I think they're talking about the aperture size. I would go for the one with the most selection (.5-3.0) but on my aperture rearsight it goes from .5-3.5 but I only use it within about .3 of 1mm (.7-1.3). If they're the same price I would get the larger range but you probably won't need it. Anyway, that's what it means

The only difference as the last poster said is the range of adjustment. The 1.8 sacrifices the larger adjustment range for a more precise adjustment.

My rear aperture is usually 1.0>1.4 so the smaller 1.8 iris would be fine for me, and then I would be able to fine tune my size better than the 3.0 iris.

Otherwise the irises are the same, although some models have different colours etc.

The indoor one has some very useful colours I find.

Gehmann irises however swept the board at the last major comps.

Better technology making the iris means a better circle to look through.
