Mens 25M center fire & standard pistol

Post by JulianY »

What happened to the standard pistol adn center fire events for men?

I dont see these listed in the ISSF world cup or the 2008 olympics. I do see them however list for the commonwealth games

Are these events dying out?

Neither of them have ever been Olympic events (in their current format) and only Olympic events are shot at World Cups.

That's interesting since they are listed in the ISSF rule book

Was the format changed after '72?

There are several events, rifle, pistol, shotgun and moving target that are ISSF events but not Olympic events.

The ISSF do not control the Olympics and the IOC do not control the ISSF.

Can I suggest you look at annex"Q" in the ISSF rule book for a list of the current Olympic events.

I think that it is the IOC that has the say in which events are included in the Olympics, and not ISSF

May all your shots be "10's"

Not that I can think of although that was a bit before my (shooting) time.

I am a bit confused by your question though as they weren't included in those Olympics either.

BTW, I think you'll find we are talking about CF Pistol, not FullBore Rifle.
