Walther LP300 balance weights

I just picked up a used Watlther LP300 (Thanks Frank! =) ) and I have a question on the balance weights attached to the trigger guard. The question is, what do I do with them? They cant weigh more than a few grams each and sliding them around does not seem to make any difference in how the pistol feels. What in the world should I be feeling for?

Weights do two things basically , they dampen muzzel movement , and fine tune balance . If you are happy with balance leave well enuff alone , to be effective at controlling moment of inertia , they need to be as close to the muzzel as possible . In terms of stabalizing the muzzel/front sight , muzzel heavy is better .

A lot of very competent shooters don't bother with weights at all , kinda like seasoning - a matter of taste .

I find that weights 10-15 grams (the weight of 1-2 pellets) can make a substantial difference in feel.
It's amazing how they engineer the pistol to get the balance so good.

Set them to where it feels best.
If you dont notice a difference either move them all to the front or take them off.
