Maintenance or repair question on 853

Post by Jim Morrison »

I have a 853 that will not release the air after a pump.

Some where I saw some repair information on the Daisy pellet rifles.

Can some one steer me in the right direction?

Thank you.

OK guys, after stripping it down to a bunch of parts, here what I found.

One, I shouldn’t have stripped it down.

Two, after reassembling it several times, I came to the conclusion that the rear tang screw serve two purposes, 1, to hold the action into the stock and 2, for lack of a better way of putting it, to snuggle the action together.

Out of the action it worked, in the action it didn't.

When I removed the tang screw, both parts came out as one. When it was reassemble for what ever reason, the tang screw didn’t go into the action far enough to snug the action.

After separating the tang screw and placing the one part in action first and after replacing the stock, put in the other tang screw.

Now everything is OK and with no spared part left over.
