Joss Wins Bronze to Close WSPS World Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (November 11, 2017)
John Joss won the bronze medal in the R6 (Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1) event today the World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS, formerly IPC Shooting) World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.

Joss (Corsicana, Texas, pictured) qualified for the Final with the second highest score (617.1). Once in the Final, Joss was able to pull into the lead following the 12th shot, but would see his lead dissolve over the next few elimination shots. 2016 Paralympic Games silver medalist Abdulla Sultan Alaryani of the United Arab Emirates would win the gold medal, setting a new Finals World Record of 249.0. Anton Zappelli of Australia won the silver medal.

Kevin Nguyen (Westminster, California) qualified for the R6 Final with the fourth-highest score of 613.6. He finished in sixth place overall.

In R5 (Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH2), Stetson Bardfield (Colorado Springs, Colorado) finished in 14th place. David Cromwell (Bandera, Texas) finished in 19th place in his international competitive debut and 2016 Paralympic Games bronze medalist McKenna Dahl (Arlington, Washington) finished in 20th place.

Today was the final day of competition at the WPSP World Cup with the USA Shooting Team earning two individual medals overall, including Marco De La Rosa’s (San Antonio, Texas) silver-medal win in P1 (Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1) and one team medal, the P1 team bronze won by De La Rosa, Shaun Tichenor (Brainerd, Minnesota) and Aaron Causey (Riverside, Alabama).
