Wigger vs Anderson

Post by Xman »

I was going to to ask members to compare the 2 gentlemen..shooting wise, impact, skills, career length etc.

As I was researching it became clear..no comparison. It Wigger hands down. He could and did it all when it comes to rifle. SB, HP, BR, Silh. A champion in all he did. And still had a tour of Vietnam mid career!

And it is more than just medals and records. You only have to google him and see for yourself.

Post shooting career he has led, served the sport in many functions and ways. Manager, Director, advisor and all around the sport.

Below is a blog post of the highlight accounts of the 2016 NRA Prone at Bristol. Mostly the numbers stuff. At the end is a comment regarding Lones that is a must read by the members.

Fight on!

My personal experiences with both men are quite limited. One thing that I'll say is that LTC Wigger was a customer of mine when I volunteered at the NRA store during an NRA Annual Meeting. I found him quite humble and very easy to deal with. He seemed almost shocked that I recognized him right off. His shooting speaks for itself.

Hm, and what does "vs. Anderson" now mean? You list some facts and/or opinions about Wigger - and then? What do you intend, what's the goal?

How about this?

I know both personally (but they wouldn't recognize me today, I assume), Lones from a very nice dinner in Munich with Dieter Anschütz and his wife Elfie in the 1990's, and Gary Anderson from an interview in 1996, when he was Director of the olympic shooting in Atlanta, and today now and then when we meet at ISSF World Cups. I have studied all his texts about shooting, I admired him shooting air rifle blindfolded(!) in german TV in 1972 (while he was living in Germany for one year).

But compare those two honorable persons? In what, weight, size, left handed vs. right handed shooter, titles?
It can only be a chapter for the "Encyclopedia of useless facts" - and all aspects collected here won't somehow do justice to these two gentlemen.

I, on the other hand, find that this is an opportunity for us little people to say something nice about two giants of the sport.
