Is the Ruger pistol accepted for Standard?

Post by kiko »

Hello.

I'll like to get back in the saddle again and start to do some UIT (I guess now ISSF) shooting. About the Ruger pistol (Mark II), as far as I'm concern and after reading the ISSF oficial rules, it is not acceptable (officialy) for Standard shooting. Or maybe its OK for non ISSF sanctioned matches or for USAshooting sanctioned, or for just practice. What's your opinion.

Also, What are your thoughts for using that Ruger also for some basic practice at 50m (free pistol) or maybe an SW K22 with target grips is a better choice. As I said before, I was a competitive UIT shooter in the past, now I'm just trying to you know, to get back in the saddle. Besides, I dont live close to ISSF type shooting range (USA). Driving 4 hours one way every week to their weekly matches is not an option for me. Hey, thanks a lot, all you are so nice. Kiko.

The 5.5" Ruger should be legal for standard pistol. The Ruger would probably be a better choice for free pistol over the Smith revolver. I shot a High Standard Victor for a few years in standard and free.
