Mikey,

I guess you should have sold it for more then. I would buy it but...I got married and well, some of you know how that goes.

Sparky's TOZ35M

Post by Ian »

Michael,

I think Sparky figures that the TOZ35 you used in the Olympic and as a member of the US National Team has some additional market value.

As you know, that's not the way it works in the shooting fraternaty. You sell stuff at a fair price to someone so that he can use it to compete and enjoy the sport as much as you do. If this upgrades the equipment that that individual is using, all the better.

As said in my previous email to Sparky, if you offer a gun like the TOZ35 , accessories, etc. at a fair price you'll be able to sell it easily. But at the current price Sparky is asking for a few bucks more you can get a brand new TOZ35.

O.K. I admit that having one of the Russian gunsmiths re-work the gun has, maybe, some value but not the difference in cost Sparky is looking for.

I would strongly suggest Sparky reconsiders his price. Then I bet several of us might be very interested in the gun.

As always, keepem all in the 10 ring,
Ian

P.S. Here my offer - $650. This because I will have to buy a right hand grip that will fit me and have it modified by Seaton Thomas so that I can shoot the TOZ in competition. Oh by the way that is about $250.00

This is why the sport is going down the tubes. It's Sparky's gun now. He has a right to sell it for whatever he wants. If Michael has a problem about the price now, too bad. He shouldn't have sold it. If the price is too high, the market will dictate the selling price. Ian is just trying to get the price down so he can get it for cheap, turn it around and make $$ himself. All this talk about "enjoy the sport" is pure crap but of course, you already know that.

Ian, what exactly is the "shooting fraternity" and how do you join it? Is there an initiation rite or in the case of gangbangers, "jumping in" ceremony? Do you have a special shirt or hat that you wear? It is this elitist attitude that has people turning away in droves. Good luck.

Yup, your right.

It's Sparky's gun and it will still be Sparky's gun after its all over and done with this and his other postings.

As for the shooting frateraty. That's right, no hats, T-shirts or any of that other stuff. If you shoot competitively you just become part of it. I think you need to experience for yourself. If you want to see what it is all about go out to a USAS or NRA competitive event. Maybe go to Ft. Benning to the USAS Nationals, compete and see for yourself.

I have met a lot of great folks and as a result I have made a number of really close friends.

As for the gangbangers, if one would like to buy Spark's TOZ35, It would be my pleasure to work with him and share some of my knowledge of the sport I really like and enjoy doing.

As for the rest of you comments, they really doen't have much merit, so I see no need to respond.

Hay, I have a suggestion. Why don't you buy Spark's gun!

Try keep'em all in the 10 ring or at least on the paper,
Ian

Toz-35M in used, but good condition, serial number 901292. From what I understand the first two numbers indicate year of production. It includes the wonderful "CCCP" markings to assure you it was made with purely Socialistic intentions. As further evidence of commie quality, the front sight is slightly canted to the left, but that hasn't affected my shooting or that of its previous owner; I still shot bad, he still shot very well! :)
The trigger mechanism has been "gunsmithed" by the former Soviet team gunsmith. Probably a priceless mod unless you're on the USA shooting team. He did this at a Munich World Cup for it's previous owner (more on him below). It's great! Probably the closest you'll ever get to the electronic triggers on the Morini and Hammerli guns with a mechanical trigger!

It comes with an english instruction manual, a total of 5 front sights, 5 rear sights, a spare firing pin, two spare firing pin springs, a spare falling block spring (the pigtail one), and another spare spring (flat one in the trigger). It also comes with an unmolested original felt lined adjustable medium right hand grip your choice of EITHER: a puttied, medium Morini adjustable left hand grip or a puttied Vitarbo mixed medium grip. It also includes the lockable wooden case (don't have the key to the locks) and a fleece Vitarbo pistol mitten.

I bought this gun from Michael Douglass (former USA team member, 2000 Olympics [albeit in 10m AP], among several other BIG matches). It has the stickers on the grip and forearm of all the various nationals and World Cups he has attended. So I guess you could say owning this would be owning a part of USA shooting history. As he's done very well with it, I can't blame my mediocre scores on the gun. It's probably not the prettiest example of a Toz, but it will definitely shoot well, if you're up to the task. I'm simply selling it cause I'm still in school and don't get to shoot much. I'll keep a set of grips and try to borrow a gun at the few competitions I shoot at.

So here you go; all you need to get started in free pistol for $825.00.

I accept U.S. Mail Money Orders, certified checks, or if picked up in person, cash.

Shipping and handling will be the actual cost of next day shipping via FedEx to your FFL plus $5. If you're in the central Texas area, we can arrange a meeting for you to see it if you want.
