Standard Barrel Length or Compact for 10m Targets?

Post by MarkJCutting »

I am a new member and thank you for letting me join. I am coming back to all forms of shooting after a long break, due to time spent overseas. I am keen to as well as other forms (stalking, game shooting, target air rifle, etc) to take up air pistol target shooting (10m) and to that end I am looking to buy a Steyr Evo 10E. However, am unsure on whether to buy the standard (long) or compact version. Could I please ask for the benefit of your experience and knowledge as to which would be better?

Not trying to be rude or anything but have you searched the forum? The compact vs full length question has been posed many times with lots of useful contributions made.

When I started out I just went full length and it has been fine. Do you have the opportunity to check out various pistols? For me, the differences in grips and ability to adjust grip orientation is the biggest factor in ability to hold steady.

Buy standard version. You can shortern the sight radius if its too long for you. There's no reason to buy compact version - standard comes with bigger air tank, it's more accurate and has better weight balance.

if you are weak, or have shoulder injury only then go compact.

Youth, many females prefer the compact because their muscles can't support the full length pistol without shaking violently. Other than that, a typical pistol today weighs around a 1kg, so for me it's too light.

I suggest searching using Google. This topic has been covered a number of times here.
If you use the following search terms you will have good luck.
