They don't send teams for non-Olympic events. No team - no selection.

Will be interesting to see World Cup participation levels this year in Free Pistol, Prone & Double trap now they are off Olympic Program. I would assume that they will be off WC program after this year.

Interesting,
somebody told me that even Free Pistol "may" be out of the Olympics,, there are still the World Cups
so,,, keep shooting,
I guess, that might not be the case,,, it looks like FP will or may, entirely die.

beautiful sport indeed, and beautiful discipline FP, but it seems few will be interested in keep shooting it if there is no Olympic "dream" in the future,,, like shooting Rapid Fire with the 22 short (which I enjoyed back in the days)

I am still calling USAS,, still no avail

cheers,

Dan,
Ref your "They don't send teams for non-Olympic events. No team - no selection."
For FP & prone, USAS stated "For the WC in Munich while it is true that both of those disciplines are on the schedule they are not Olympic disciplines meaning we do not have to run a selection match for them. These spots will be filled by committee pick as outlined in the selection procedures posted on the USAS website."

So good news for me I suppose as FP's will probably start turning up for sale cheap, and I'll have a lot less competition to get a spot at the WC.

Sad, sad, sad. I like the description of it as a "beautiful discipline."

They probably won't, because most people who own FPs don't shoot World Cups... There are only a handful of athletes from each country who take part in a WC.

Not only that, the prices have been sky high for the last 12 months.

With that said, the effect on some countries is huge, because without the Olympics, no funding is provided, meaning they are not participating. Not many can afford 4 roundtrip tickets a year and hotel costs.

Was this a direct response from USAS? Where is that information on USAS website where they describe the selection procedures for non-olympic events?
