Target height for scatt -smallbore

Post by lyoke »

I am working with a new scatt setup scatt and was curious about how high the target should be in each position (especially prone) to be accurate for 50 meter smallbore.

Thank you!

What distance are you actually shooting or training at?

Good starting points for 3P (since the target is so close) is to use the CMP 3-P air target heights:
Prone .5m (19.7in)
Standing 1.4m (55in)
Kneeling .8m (31.5in)

Realize that 50m ranges differ. Example Ft Benning has a different target height than the OTC)

The above heights are the starting points for NCAA 50ft smallbore as well.

Fort Benning doesn't change heights at all for the 3 Position matches.

I believe what Joel was saying is that for 10m there are three height adjustments to start with to simulate the static single height 50 meter target. But be aware that not all static 50 meter targets are set at the exact same height i.e. Ft. Benning may be different (within tolerance) than the OTC so some fine tuning on the 50 meter range may be needed because not one size fits all.

Rob ... my answer was qualified by being a 10m range ... Ft Benning and the OTC do not change heights as they are 50m ranges
