I think I'm being dim here, but please someone help.....

I recently acquired a Walther LGM-2 and am overall very pleased, in the owners manual it says that dry firing is possible by "opening the cocking knob"....I've opened and closed everything, but no joy !!

Please shed some light on which knob needs opening.

I own a LGM-2 myself, it's easy:
Do not operate the large compression lever, but operate the bolt-lever only (the small lever on te righthand side of the bolt) all the way up and then close it again fully. This cocks the hammer and trigger mechanism. You can then fire the rifle without the release of air.
