499b arrived, 155 fps, can't zero at 5 meters

Brand new gun about a hundred bb"s through it right now. What gives I wipe the barrel down to make sure there was no excess oil slowing the balls down and that was it.
Right now I'm three quarter inch below the bullseye at 5 metres and I'm out of elevation in the rear sight. Funny thing is this is the test Target that came with the gun had the group very low as well.

We have had a series of very slow guns. Sorry to hear you did too. Sent them back, waiting for the official response. Some times it just happens. Daisy has great customer Service just talk to them!,

Well I guess I'll send it to Daisy.I thought about a return to Midway. The thing that really chaps my hide is I bought this thing, paid shipping to me and it's faulty. and it's going to cost me $25 more to get it fixed because shipping is "my responsibility" by about every companies policies back to a vendor or manuf.
I'm in the building industry and if I shipped the wrong product to a builder's job site and charged them another delivery charge for delivering the correct product to the job site I would have no work. In fact we often have to discount it because we delay the project.

Think about it the gun is going to cost me 20% more now and its no fault of mine.

Yeah I've dealt with Midway for almost 30 years they've always been pretty good. But it is responsibility of the buyer to pay the return shipping per their policy. From the other response to my topic it sounds like there was a series slow guns. If i send it back to Midway and i receive another slow shooting gun from the same lot I would have to pay shipping back to them for that one. At this point Daisy makes the most sense.

I've been cursed because last year I bought a Walther LGV Ultra competition for Midway and it is shooting 200 feet per second under spec. That would have cost me about $50 insured to ship back to them and I decided to keep it and try to deal with the Importer Umarex. Umarex is not a very good company to deal with. The people you get in the tech department do not understand anything about their product. They wouldn't even send me a $12 spring for free to give it a shot. Their only answer was send it back to them and they would evaluate it. The guy on the phone was even arguing the point about "guaranteed velocity "in their advertising .he also told me to try different pellet weights to get the power up because different weights will give you different Power. That's an interesting concept but never found to be true buy anything but a couple percent.. Basically anything they could do to not have to deal with the problem. I kept the gun and have tried various things over the last few months and it still refuses to shoot the velocity should. I bought it for field Target use and long ranges are quite difficult at the anemic speeds.

Daisy rocks!

What waiting for my label to arrive I decided to try something. I conographed the gun it was going 155 feet per second. Then I took a little Crosman silicone ,took the barrel out there put down on the seal and let it sit for about a half hour. I was rewarded by a bit over 200 feet per second and now I have plenty of elevation in my sights. I even have room out to 10 metres and 10 metres groups are about half inch.
I feel bad Daisy sent me the label because now it's not going back.

You may want to test a few more types of BB's I try to find the barrel BB combination that groups inside the 9 ring and have had good luck getting even tighter than that

1/2 is almost a maximum group size. Be careful not to get lube in the shot tube can ruin accuracy.

Half inches 10 meters not 5 meters

The gun should be 10 ring accurate at 5 meters, but its a knuckleballer so anything past that, and accuracy will drop quickly. The grease they put on the plunger head and spring is really thick, and when it gets warm its almost like the back of sticky note. I pull the plungers on every new gun we get and clean them with rem oil, and then a light coat of synthetic motor oil. We've had no failures since doing that.

Thanks for the info.any link to a good drawing of the fork tool for takedown? I have tried to make one out of thin pipe but it doesn't seem to catch the spring.it flares as it goes by the rivots.

I shot mine out to 25 yards and best groups were 2" BTW.

I had one but now I use a brass cleaning rod with no attachment. It catches the spring well enough to remove the wedge. If you still want to make one I'd suggest using pvc, instead of steel. Steel can scratch the inside of the housing.

The silicone you used, was it a caulk type that sets when it dries? If so how did you apply it?
