grease for Daisy x53 maintenance

Post by GaryN »

I'm working on my 953 and 853 and can't find what type of grease to use in the receiver. I used lithium grease when I tore down my 953 today. Is that OK or should I use something different?

I am in that part of the year where I'm tearing down all our Daisy rifles, cleaning and re-lubing.

I had sent an email to Denise Johnson about the type of grease the factory uses and got this response:
Subject: RE: 888/887 Green Grease

We have changed to a clear synthetic grease. "Super Lube" brand is what
we are currently using and is commercially available.
I was not able to find it in town, so I browsed the web and found this at "AAA Industrial Supply" in 3oz tubes. (P/N: 305000)
http://AAAindustrialsupply.com

I also bought a few tubes (1/2oz - P/N: 305019) to have my girls keep in their gearbags to lube 22 bolt friction spots.

(Note: your lithium grease should be fine too)

Thanks
I was a bit worried about the grease as some grease don't react well with plastic parts.
