Just a question about air rifles. Is the tech force 79 legal for the silhouett shoot.

This is an opinion and you should probably get in touch with Conrad Arnold and find out who the event coordinator is for Air Rifle.
(Get on the National site and you can find his contact info)

Yes the TF79 should be OK as long as it has the sporter stock and not the thumbhole. The only issue you may have is enough gas to get thru the event ... make sure the gun is setup for 2 cartridges not just one.

The caveat with the thumbhole stock is that sometimes these are not considered "sporter" stocks, so best to check. 4-H used to specifically state no thumbholes, but it is not there now.

Thank you for the reply. No the stock is not a thumhole stock, and it dose use two 12 gram cartriges. Can he change cartriges during the match if they run low? And is they a trigger pull wieght needed?

As the rules read now there is no limit on the trigger. Just make sure it's safe and meets a "bump" test. (cock when empty and firmly bump the buttplate on the floor or table).

If you need to change the cylinders, then you have to pull the gun completely off the line into a fill area. Ask the RO's the day before on training day where that will be. Some of the 888/887 guns will come off the line too as they will forget to fill their cylinders. Also ... make sure your kids or you have the gas dump key.

With my TF79, I got a bulk fill cap and fill station that filled off of a paintball cylinder as well as a the double pierce cap. With that the idea was it could easily go a whole 3x20 match, but they never put in the effort to get the gun approved for sporter competition ... bummer, as they were cheap and accurate.

Mike Jochum (CMP Jr Director for NE) is indeed running the air rifle events.
You can go to this page to find his contact info.
