Arizona Running Boar

Post by bcrt »

Ben Avery shooting range in Arizona has a running boar range. Are there any shooters using this forum who would be interested in using their running boar range? I called the range but received limited info on its working condition. I was also told in order to use it there would have to be enough shooters coming to shoot for a match. Apparently the running boar range is behind 3 other shooting ranges and they would have to close those ranges to allow us to shoot. I know there must be some people using this forum who can help push to get a running boar match going at Ben Avery. Lets get this going! Thoughts?

This is a great news! I hope that the range is still in the working order. I am there in a heart beat if a match get's put together. Count Me In!

Thank you for letting us know about this.

Even if it needs fixing I know when there's a will there's a way. Even if we all bring a few tools and roll up our sleeves I'm sure we can get it up to par.

One of the running boar target systems at Ben Avery is operational. The only time it is used is when the NMLRA conducts their annual shoot. My understanding is that the Arizona Game and Fish Department who run B.A. was going to dismantle everything, but were talked out of it by the NMLRA. Previously there were two systems (sets of tracks and motors), however, parts were scavenged from one to keep the other operational. One of the competitors at the NMLRA match let me take a few shots with his rifle, great fun. If there is enough interest to get a league or something similar going, I would be interested in participating. Please keep me informed. Thanks, Tom
