Biathlon in NW Oregon, SW Washington?

Post by ptperson »

Hey, a few years ago I sent out a call for any biathletes in MT. Since then I've ended up moving (and ironically there is a growing community in MT) to the Portland, OR Area. Does anyone know if their are any biathletes in the Portland area? I've come across the group near Stevens Pass in WA but that's a little farther than is reasonable to drive even on weekends. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

There are no organized civilian biathlon clubs in those areas that I am aware of. There is a forum member who goes by the name of "Franc" in the Anschutz subforum over at rimfirecentral.com. He is in the Portland area and owns at least one older Anschutz biathlon rifle. He has expressed an interest in participating in biathlon races. You might PM him. There are several National Guard biathletes from the Moses Lake area in Washington. That is only marginally closer to Portland. Otherwise, Stevens Pass and the Methow Valley are the closest venues to Portland that I am aware of. You might try contacting Bob Vallor at Washington Biathlon Association to see if he knows of any biathletes in your geographical area of interest.

Hi: I did a search and found this: Bend Biathlon Club, Rex Allison, 18790 Hakamore Dr, Bend, OR 97701, email: dawnall1@juno.com. Might try him and see what he knows. When UI was in the Guard, we ran 2-3 biathlon events at Bachelor every winter, but I don't think they do now. Don n Beaverton
