are you having any races this year? What's the deal, I see nothing posted for a race schedule?

We are still finalizing the race schedule. A birdy told me that the first race will be December 13th at Blackhawk. I will lean on WI biathlon to update the website, sorry!

So how will I be able to do the race on the 13th, if the first safety instruction course isn't scheduled until the 14th?

That is a conundrum a few athletes are facing. Let me discuss with someone at a higher pay grade than me ;)

Here's the official response. You should be OK to participate if you have USBA membership, your own rifle and are OK without carrying it during the race. Maybe see you soon!

Ok good, I'm a USBA member. I've never carried the rifle before, but I skied two of the intro races last season, so I'm familiar with the format and have a sense for range procedure. I've got plenty of past ski experience and have shot several other rifle matches, so I'm sure it will be fine. These first couple of races are just going to be a learning experience anyway.

There will be a couple of us who are not safety certified yet on Saturday. Should be fun.

This weekends race is postponed due to warm weather. We plan to hold the race on 12/21/14. I will be posting a race flyer on WI biathlon's website ASAP.

Bummer. Guess this means I can get my certification on Sunday and be able to carry for the first race.
