Biathlon Harness

Post by 2whlrcr »

So I finally got my ESA rifle. Nice rig, but I have a Altius harness. Man that thing is stiff and uncomfortable. Anybody try mink oil or something on them to soften them up?

Unless it has changed, I thought the Altius harness has nylon straps? Not sure what you would put the oil on? When a biathlon harness is properly adjusted it should feel very comfortable to wear. Ideally you want the straps to be a bit stiff and keep their shape to provide a nice wide opening in which to get your arms through when taking or putting the rifle on your back. Perhaps you just need to adjust it for fit? You should be able to do this by moving the position up or down where it attaches to the harness rail on the stock and by tightening or loosening the amount of bungee on the strap.
