Rifle for an ex-biathlete

Post by canuck »

So I raced biathlon all through high school and college, and I finally sold off my Fortner a year or so ago. Since then, I've decided that I miss shooting and I want to get back into it. I'm looking for a fairly low-cost .22 that I can shoot at 50m-100m, but it doesn't have to comply with the IBU standards since I'm not planning on racing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? My preference is under $750, but I would like something that feels as much like a biathlon rifle as possible.

You can probably find an Izhmash 7-2 for $400ish.

I bet you could restock it with a 7-3 or 7-4 stock that someone replaced with an aftermarket stock if you wanted it to feel "as much like a biathlon rifle as possible".

An Izmash would be perfect.

Any CZ rifle would work, they make a very nice rifle.

Kimber makes and excellent rifle in your price range
