Optimum sitting height of high stool?

Post by Albert T »

Classified as an SH1A shooter I am not allowed to use a backrest. I understand that for the standing position it is better to use a high stool instead of a chair with normal sitting height. Is there a way, formula or procedure to find or calculate the optimal sitting height for a high stool (for use in standing position)?

Thomas, I am aware of that rule, but it only states the minimum height. It does not tell me anything about the optimum height (as long as it is equal or higher then ...). I was wondering if there is a 'rule of thumb' to start off with almost the best sitting height to avoid longtime experimenting.

Get a stool with adjustable legs and find out what is best for you. Almost no two people are alike in their statue or preferance

Everyone will have a different height.
You have to be able to shoot with both feet on the floor ... that kinda determines the max height.
(2.7.2 sets the min height)
Also, you have to be able to lift both your feet off the floor and still demonstrate balance.
