John Joss 6th in R3 both before and after final

Yesterday John Joss (AMU) had a frustrating day in R6 (50m Prone Rifle Mixed), finishing just out of the final in 10th place. Scores were quite low in the tricky wind conditions.

Today, OTC Resident Mike Tagliapietra shot a fine score of 569 in the P3 (25m Sport Pistol Mixed) event today, just off the Americas Record he holds at 572 and the high score for the day of 573.

After the first part of the final he was in a 3 way tie for third and survived that shoot-off to get to the bronze medal final.

In that final he defeated Frank Heitmeyer (GER) to win the Bronze medal.

Mike still has P5, MFP/P4 and MAP/P1 later this week.

Tomorrow is our busiest day with US athletes competing in R3, P5, MFP and R4.

McKenna’s 629.2 was a match personal best in R4, just a fraction of a point out of the final.

Mike T. had a 510 in P4 today to earn his MQS in that event, completing his quest for MQS to be eligible for all three events in 2016. If he represents USA in Rio in the P3 event he earned the quota place in, he can now also compete in P4.

Tomorrow is P1 (Men’s Air Pistol) for Mike, Shaun and Len.
