Britain's Matt Skelhon secured gold by the narrowest of margins on the second day of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Shooting World Cup at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.

Skelhon, a gold medallist at Beijing 2008, was made to work hard for the R3 10 metre air rifle prone mixed SH1, eventually seeing off the challenge of Slovakia's Veronika Vadovicova.

Vadovicova had claimed gold on the opening day but her score of 211.5 only proved good enough for silver, with Skelhon finishing just 0.3 ahead of the Slovakian shooter.

France's Didier Richard earned his second medal of the World Cup, having won yesterday's R1 10m air rifle standing event, with his score of 190.1 sealing bronze ahead of his compatriot Cedric Fevre who was some way adrift in fourth on 168.2.

The impressive performances from the French team continued as Tanguy De La Forest clinched the World Cup title in the R4 10m air rifle standing mixed SH2 event.

De La Forest shot his way to gold with his score of 211.7 seeing him finish ahead of Ukraine's Vasyl Kovalcuk, who scored 200.3.

Ryan Cockbill came out on top in a British tussle for bronze after scoring 188.6, while his teammate Rob McLeary missed out on the podium on 167.8.

The three day event is set to draw to a conclusion tomorrow, with the next World Cup scheduled to take place in Szczecin, Poland, from April 17 to 21.
