IPC World Cup Turkey

Post by Thomas Monto »

The US team wrapped up the IPC World Cup in Antalya, TUR with 2 strong performances.

New AMU shooter John Joss won the bronze medal in a very tightly contested final in the R3 Air Rifle Prone Mixed event in his first IPC World Cup. The gold medalist was Matt Skelhon, a multiple Paralympic Games medalist from GBR. John beat out numerous other Paralympians in both the qualifying round and the final. John’s results count as new IPC American records as well.

Paralympic Coach Bob Foth said, “John shot a very smart match today. He did a great job of running center shots and also bounced back quickly when it was a struggle. I’m really proud of him and look forward to coaching him to get ready for Rio. The hard work that his AMU coach Matt Rawlings has put in really shows in his performances.”

Eric Hollen competed in the Falling Target Pistol event for the first time and made it as far as the third elimination round. That is another solid performance for his first time in that event.

After USAS Nationals, look for fireworks from the US Team at the World Cup GBR over the 4th of July.

IPC shooting World Cup that was hosted in Turkey was indeed superb as it was blessed with the presence of participants like Matt Skelhon. No wonder he won the gold medal. It was great to watch these events live. I am looking forward to the one that is going to happen on November at Alicante, Spain.
