S$W 952 on bullseye competition.

Post by ser2711 »

I fall in love with my S&W 952. For centerfire competition ( 30x30) I use S&W 52. .38 Special WC.. Now I try with better results 9 parabellum (in Italy only 9x21) with Lee 105 gains and reduced power charge with better result and easy to shoot.. Any one as used 9mm for bullseye 25 meter competition?

Yes, I use one occasionally. I have a 1911 9mm with a KKM slow twist rate barrel. The biggest advantages are the gun is more accurate than a 45, and the allowable trigger weight is 2.5 pounds. I use it both for indoor 25 yard matches and for outdoor slow fire where the slow fire is shot at fifty yards.

Which is the load you use on 9mm at 25 yards competition ( type of bullet and powder)?

I use a lead 115g semi wadcutter Penn bullet, with about 4.2g of Vhitavouri N340 powder.

I would not use this load at the fifty yard line, but for the shorter distance it works fine. Depending on the strength of the spring in your gun, it may not cycle the slide, in which case you will have to bump up the powder a bit or reduce the weight of the recoil spring.....

My 9mm 1911 has a 13 pound spring.

What OAL do you load the PENN bullet? I am running the same bullet with WSF powder (also KKM barrel 1-32 twist), I haven't settled on a final load yet. - This is for 25 yards (indoors)

Also if you could be so kind, what is your 50 yard load? I'm running 115gr Hornady HAP/XTP with 5.4 of WSF and a 1.090" OAL.

Thanks in advance!

Dave, I load them as short as possible. About a 16th of an inch of shoulder above the case mouth.

They are very OAL sensitive. With a longer one, you will need to bump up the powder.

My Fifty yard load, is now the same for my LEG gun, as my center fire gun.
5.0 of VV N340 with again, about 1/16th of shoulder above the case mouth. Using a 115g Hornady XTP JHP.
