Ben Avery Range

Post by Ken »

Nowadays it's getting more and more difficult to find a suitable place in this great country to go shoot. Many years ago, when most of these range facilities were established, they were out in the middle of nowhere. Due to urban sprawl, over development, and of course political correctness, many of the older remote shooting ranges have been closed down. This is an opportunity to save one of these ranges for future generations to enjoy. Believe it or not, shooting is a great family activity, teaches discipline, self confidence, is a great stress reliever and can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life. Remember this, you can enjoy an airport or a park just about anytime. It takes just a bit more effort to go out and enjoy a day of shooting.

Subject: Save a shooting range

Your vote needed today. No need to be an AZ resident to vote.
The Ben Avery Shooting Facility has been under attack for several years. There
are factions in the Phoenix area that are interested in shutting down the range.
The largest pressure is from developers that want to build in the area. One way
to help keep the range is to vote it a "Phoenix POINT OF PRIDE." So, please go
to the URL below and vote!
Vote at: www.pride.azcentral.com
The Ben Avery Shooting Facility has been nominated as a Phoenix Point of Pride.
For the award, however, your vote is needed. From February 2 to March 12, 2004
the City is taking votes to determine who will be awarded this honor. Now is
your chance to get your shooting range the same reorganization as other major
recreation areas in the Phoenix Valley.
Anyone can vote, including non residents of the City or of Arizona, but you can
only vote once. Please send this email to all your friends. Now is our
opportunity to let the rest of the City know what you know, that the Ben Avery
Shooting Facility is your facility, for your sport.
Vote at: www.pride.azcentral.com
Please forward to your lists.

Isn't the bottom line to all of this MONEY. The city who wants to change zoning for that property wants the tax base. While I did vote on the site, I doubt that any effort of this type will have the desired effect. It takes voters at the polls to vote out these parasitic tax addicted politicians. They are like herion addicts but their "junk" is your money, or in this case your public land.
