Shooting Shoes – Pistol

Post by Paul T (UK) »

I have a pair of Sauer pistol shooting shoes. I like the arch and heel support but the shoe design tilts you forwards to an extent that I find casual shoes without the specialist support are preferable!
I have a wide shoe fitting so I already know the Pardini shoes are too narrow (unless they now do a wider fitting?).
I would appreciate any manufacturer recommendations that I may possibly be able to purchase in the UK.

Paul, why not try AHG---Anschutz---I have a wide 12EE (American) and they are very roomy & comfortable , they do not change anything with your basic stance, as you mentioned. I have used them for 3 years now and I find they are just perfect when shooting AP & FP.

Many thanks Bob, I am looking at these. I spoke to the importers this a.m. and not much support, knowledge or desire to sell their products so any information would be appreciated. I may have to get my German dictionary out and contact AHG direct!

I also noticed that AHG has a striking resemblance to the Gehmann version – are these the same or just one of those coincidences?

I think you are correct in that assumption as I saw Gehman at Camp Perry in one store and the AHG in Champion's Choice and I opted for the AHG---$20 cheaper. My gun club get's a nice little discount from Champion's Choice through our Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL).

I have a friend who uses skateboarding shoes for pistol shooting and reckons they are as good as any specialist pistol shoe. I've not tried them out myself, but they might do the job nicely.

Skate board shoes are the go. It's almost as though they have been designed specifically for pistol shooters.
It was also a bonus to see the look on the kid's face who served me when I asked for a pair (I'm 64)
