Who can afford this?

As noted below, I re-read the email and the 6 day requirement is only for those with a medical or faith-based exemption to vaccination. My error in reading this as applying to everyone. According to USA Shooting, anyone wanting to attend the January Selection match must: --- You will need to arrive ...

Re: ISSF New Competition Formats

The new Airgun finals were written by someone that has no idea what they are doing (and defintely no idea how to write a rule). "c.) Shooting Procedure: * Athletes start from zero and make 10 shots. * The value of the best shot is 4 points. * The value of the second result - 3 points. * The val...

Re: Kurger targets are no longer accepted by the NRA

My understanding is that Kruger did not feel the NRA licensing fee to put the NRA logo on each target was not justified with so few NRA matches.

Re: Can anything be done to 46M dry fire?

46M manual suggests that you should dry fire "exactly as live fire, but without the pellet This is what I have always done, with no damage to the gun. Just a little noise when air is released. Just don't do that during a match. Any discharge of air is considered a shot fired. With no pellet, p...

Re: Winter Airgun Pistol National Championships a “Go” in 2021

The first day is December 6, and it leads into ISSF finals. The second day is December 7, and the 60-shot course of fire leads into the 3-person team event. So for team selection purposes and competitors, each person will shoot 2 normal courses of fire. Breanne.orey@usashooting.org So is the ISSF f...

Re: Repeating rifles in competition

I don't know about NRA rules, as they don't seem interested in using the same rules as the rest of the world. However, the ISSF Air Rifle rule "7.4.1.1 Single Loader Rifles. Only single shot rifles that must be manually loaded before each shot may be used..." would seem to prohibit loading...

Re: Winter Airgun Pistol National Championships a “Go” in 2021

I agree that the match program implies this, but I should have linked to the actual schedule. This seems very clear that there is only one day of individual competition (and the finals are on the first day): https://www.usashooting.org/library/Competitions/22_RP_JOs/2021_Pistol_WAG_Schedule.pdf I a...

Re: USA Shooting Cancels Rifle/Pistol Nationals at Ft. Benning Georgia

I was referring to the Junior Olympics. Many juniors paid to shoot a state qualifier and got nothing for it but a pin. (Not unlike last year for all Juniors, rifle and pistol). However, this year, only the Sport Pistol shooters got shortchanged.

Re: USA Shooting Cancels Rifle/Pistol Nationals at Ft. Benning Georgia

At least the rifle smallbore qualifiers got a Championship, and hopefully a site can be found for the future for better matches. Of course, Pistol got shortchanged again with the Sport Pistol qualifiers not even given a chance to compete, despite SASS holding a National Sport Pistol Championship tha...

Re: USA Shooting Cancels Rifle/Pistol Nationals at Ft. Benning Georgia

While 3 x 40 and 50 meters outdoors should be a requirement for any international team selections, most juniors (certainly the J2 and J3s) are not ready to go to the Olympics, and their closer goal is making a college team. I don't know of a single college that shoots on a 50M outdoor range or shoot...

Re: Using Club pellets?

Seat those soft lead pellets into a round barrel and they will become a lot rounder. Hit them with 800+ psi of air pressure and they will likely conform to the barrel just like "perfect" ones. Test those next time you clamp the gun in a vice and you will be surprised how little difference ...

Learn to shoot canting the gun. Then you can consistently drop the ejected cases down the back of the neck of your closest competitor on either side of you!

Re: Using Club pellets?

Collegiate scoring is all done integer because many schools we compete against don't have electronic targets. Unless you make it to finals, all ISSF air pistol qualification matches are integer, even the Olympics. Even if all Universities had electronic targets, I would not think 60 shot matches sh...

Re: Using Club pellets?

IIRC, Club is a step below Hobby, and Hobbys are pretty good and a value leader. Since the Hobby and Club pellets went to the 300/tin packaging they lost their value leader status for me. I hope H&N Sports are a good value choice because I just bought a 2 year supply... A while ago we purchased...

Re: 10m target lighting

Any, or all of the above. Honestly, it really doesn't matter as long as there is good lighting, and not just on the target. If the walls around the target are dark, then your eyes will adjust to the average, and the target will look overly bringht. Sius targets have a strip of LEDs down both sides o...

I don't know about LA, but I was at a finals at Ft. Benning where that happened. Can't recall the year, but I think it was an Air Pistol final, as I recall it being at the Airgun building. May have been a National Championship.

Re: Help-Kruger paper rolls and masks

I was just at the JO Air Pistol Championships in Colorado Springs, and noticed that the Megalink masks (ML1038) were larger than the SIUS ones. Cutting them down on all 4 sides and adding 4 paper punches looked like it would then fit the SIUS targets, and the paper quality is good. Unfortunately, wh...

Re: Help-Kruger paper rolls and masks

I made a huge mistake and purchased from SIUS USA. 100 of the pistol masks ended up costing us $51.75! The paper tears extremely easily and if someone shoots outside the black, you get a big tear in the paper rather than a clean hole like with Kruger masks. Don't know where I will get replacements, ...

Re: Hammerli 480 K2 - should I?

I have both the original 480 (carbon fibre permanently attached cylinder) and 480K (bulbous removable cylinder). I still shoot the 480K, although not in any major matches due to cylinder age. Both still function fine, and I have absolutely no concern about the cylinder age. Back in the day I was cap...
