Re: Major Biathlon Rules Change

I was afraid that the change would be to skiing on fake snow over a video simulated course while shooting laser rifles. With mixed pairs of course.

I think three times right around would have his shots 8 inches low at 100 yd. I'd recommend turning left.

Re: Mixed Teams Finish Fourth at World Cup USA

This has everything to do with political correctness. Read up on the Olympics' Agenda 2020 and then think about the incentives that it puts in play. By the time you get downstream from one governing body to another and from one committe to another, you end up with one of the oldest Olympic events- F...

Mixed team shooting: An event nobody wanted, nobody likes, nobody understands and nobody cares. But we pretend that we do because political correctness makes everyone complicit in the lie.

If you can afford it, get your kid into precision as fast as their interest level dictates. Then thank god each day they are into that and not methamphetamine.

Good luck to your daughter. We were just out at the OTC this summer for the American Legion Nationals in the sporter division. I don't know if you've been there before, but it wasn't quite what I expected! And yeah, I suppose we humans are predisposed to always thinking there's a bigger, better dea...

Re: Scientific basis for Lot/Barrell compatibility

Whew, boy - "scientific basis..." Very few people have any experience with scientific quantitative testing, and from what I have seen, ammo testing is about on the same level as the "science" that passes for testing in the social sciences: Not much. Without delving too deep in th...

Re: CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry 2018?

I'd like to ask a question in all sincerity as I do not know the answer: If there is so much dissatisfaction with the NRA and smallbore, why not act within the structure of USA shooting? I mean besides the demand for the convential NRA target, everyone I speak with wishes USA shooting would hold mor...

Re: CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry 2018?

I can tell you from experience that when small, niche sports and disciplines start to fracture and create multiple associations, it destroys the sport and any sense of cohension. Look at the sport of Powerlifting and what it went through in the 80s and 90s. It still has not recovered. Small bore and...

Re: Rear sight mounted lens question

Jason, I am using the setup you show in the picture, though I just use my correction with no added diopter. I too, am very near sighted and without my glasses cannot see flags, targets, feet or anything else. But for me, the trade off is worth it. I had lots of problems with glasses and some problem...

Re: barrel block rifle question

I find that it is hard to accept new ideas and to do things differently than they have always been done. We follow the crowd. We recoil from change, laugh and deride the new and those who do things differently, and then when the new seems to work better, we tend to accept it without examining it co...

Looking at the Munich WC schedule: http://www.issf-sports.org/competitions/venue/schedule.ashx?cshipid=1903, there're no mixed event. When will we start to see one? Hopefully never. If anyone can provide a greater example of political correctness (except the US military, which is the most PC instit...

Re: Index finger numb in prone

In order: 1. Turn your hand so that the index finger points more in line with the barrel. This may tighten the sling up a bit,but it will relieve the nerve pinch in your hand. Which brings us to... 2. Loosen the sling a bit. This can be accomplished with the sling itself, or by something as simple a...

Re: Why only one firing pin?

The purpose of a dual or tri firing pin system was not to insure the firing of a potential dud round: It was to insure a relatively more consistent burning of the powder. A smallbore rimfire cartridge has an enormous amount of space relative to the amount of powder. That powder can lay in any sort o...
