Re: Walther LGR - diopter sight question

This is a standard old type walther diopter. The knurled ring with the two flat spots is screwed in the diopter and can be screwed out the usual way. The flat parts are made so that a special key can be used to unscrew it. The diopter has no glass. The knurled ring has an opening of 1.1mm and is sct...

Re: Thumb position question trigger hand

It is just guessing, but i think it has tot do with a (wrong?) length of pull. When the LOP is to short the wrist is bend and it is harder to place the thumb round the grip in a relaxed way. Let him hold his lower arm horizontal and let him close his eyes and let him relax his hand and wrist (keepin...

Re: Minimum shots/day?

Attached picture is a list from the Dutch Shooting Federation (KNSA) that lists the required minimum number of training hours/shots that is required to get the the top of international competition. This is for rifle shooters, but pistol will not be far off. First green row is the age of the shooter....

Re: Wind flags, ISSF compliant

For my club in Haarlem, The Netherlands I made flags using 10mm diameter alluminium pipe stuck in the ground, 1mm Stainless Steel welding wire and seveyors tape cut to a width of 50mm and a length of just over 800mm. By folding the tape over the swivel in 2 layers, you get the correct lengt and widt...

Re: Walther kkm GX1?

Yana, as far as I know, if it is an original GX-1 it should have the mark GX-1 stamped near the serial number on the left side of the action. The GX-1 was only produced for sale in the US. (I bought mine new from a dealer in 1981 in the Netherlands who had 'special connections'). Your rifle looks li...

Best Velocity LG300?

The air regulator of my Walther LG300 Mk.1 was damaged, so I had it replaced by a Mk.2 regulator. When testing the velocity, it shot the pellets at 387m/s (614 ft.second). The groups were huge. Using the screw behind the hammer block I reduced the speed to an average of 178m/s (583 ft/second, using ...

Re: Some Help understanding Trigger Adjustment

"Trigger power" (screw f in the manual) is actually the first (1st) stage trigger pull weight. (the most rearward screw, pointing diagonally forward). "Trigger Pull" (screw c in the manual) is the second (2nd) stage trigger pull weight. (the most forward screw, pointing slightly ...

Swarovski acoustic sight and Johansson sound system

At my shooting club in The Netherlands I found a Swarovski ZFB-618 acoustic sight that still works fine. I also found a small electronic device made by Johansson in Norway? that maybe has something to do with the volume and pitch of the sound when the Swarovski is pointed at a normal 10m pistol targ...

Re: Trigger pulsing?

This trigger item was talked about in detail during my ISSF D-coach course in The Netherlands aprox. a month ago. The pulsation motion on the trigger is done to keep the sensing motion of the trigger vinger 'alive'. It is done when taking away the first stage of the trigger. When pressure on the tri...

Re: Supported Air Pistol

Nice pictures and showing the correct way for supported pistol shooting. I love the added half-round support on top of the rest. In the Netherlands we use the same set-up but national rules allow a half-round or round top of support of max. 30mm diameter and a distance between the centre of the 3 su...

Re: Walther LGM-2 - Dry Firing

I own a LGM-2 myself, it's easy: Do not operate the large compression lever, but operate the bolt-lever only (the small lever on te righthand side of the bolt) all the way up and then close it again fully. This cocks the hammer and trigger mechanism. You can then fire the rifle without the release o...

Re: Supported Air Pistol

In the Netherlands we also shoot air rifle and air pistol supported. We follow the German rules with the only difference being the age: 55 to 65 years we call class Veterans-1; 65 and up we call class Veterans-2. It is also used for juniors under 15 years of age. Attached 2 pictures of the support a...

Re: Threadlock recommended?

I always use coloured nailpolish u lock very small screws. You can break it easily when turning the screw with a screwdriver, but the screw will not loosen by vibrations. When it does the nailpolish is cracked and shows movement of the screw. Works wonderfull on the very small screws in the rearsigh...

Re: The quiet eye technique - any use?

Roger, when in position, before you position your cheeck on the stock, all you have to do is move your head very slightly to the left so you are looking on the (left) side of the rear sight at the target. This gives the brain the proper signals of 'feel' for the body an target position. All you do n...

Re: The quiet eye technique - any use?

The Quit Eye technique has noting to do with seeing the target in the center of the sights. It has everything to do with the mind feeling the position of the body in relation to the position of the target and the movements of the body. I have used this technique for the last year with success in the...

Take a look in the article 'Ashley Adams: Shooting for the stars' it used to contain a video of Ashley Adams, Olympic disabled 50m prone shooter, how he gets in prone position from his wheelchair. Very educational. I copied his system when my legs were fully paralised (Guillain-Barre syndrome). http...

Re: Internal diameter of extension tubes

Guy, Why does the smaller than 13mm give bad results? Is this because of gasses bouncing back and making a turbulence while the bullet passes through them? I can remember that Mike Eckhard many years ago designed a bloop-tube with an inner tube that was adjustable in the front-aft position in the ma...

Re: Why do PCP’s-Springers prefer smaller-larger size pellet

Yana, I think you are confusing weight of the pellets with head diameter. Air rifles like the heavier pellets, air pistols prefer the lighter pellets. This because of the slower V0 of air pistols and the shorter barrels. A change of 0.02mm in head diameter does not mean a large increase of weight, b...
