I'm told that HV ammo will cause erosion to the chamber area over time but that will take a long time and will happen to non-match rifles as well.
Generally HV will not be quite as accurate due to supersonic buffeting once the bullet has left the barrel. Accuracy is the name of the game.

I think the price difference always prompts the question. The 54 is built heavier, has more parts and connects to a better/more adjustable trigger. It's more likely going to last longer and stay consistent. I personally don't understand the size of the price difference. If you can afford a 54 action...

I had a 2600 and loved the factory handstop. It had enough clearance so as not to restrict circulation in my hand and was easy to disconnect the sling from. IMHO

Use a Dremel or equivalent tool with a small round burr (I think the one I use is a Dremel #107). Do a little practice on a scrap piece of wood. I guarantee you it's not hard and with a little practice it may even look like a factory finish.
