Re: CMP Eley Standard

Shot some last month, no issues at all in a Nelson conversion as far as cycling. Had a loaded round that failed to extract after a range malfunction occurred and was making the line safe but think that had to do with cleanliness of my pistol and not the ammo... It is bulk packed in a baggy, 500rds p...

Re: Looking for a high quality rotating angled eyepiece spotter

I first started with a Vortex Razor HD 11-33x50 ($700?) Had to use a Manfrotto MA494RC2 ball head type mount on the shooting box arm for adjustment, downfall was weight, and size. If considering mounting it to the lid off a bullseye box the adjustments weren't ideal and a stable image is hard to get...

Re: grip for Ruger 22/45

Can upgrade to a MK3 or an older aluminum VQ mk2/MK3 frame with removable panels, can mill the grip frame flat and insert 1911 frame bushings to use Officer model size panels, or purchase a newer pistol that uses replacement panels. As someone who milled down the grip to use 1911 Officer size panels...

Re: FWB 80 disassembly?

2 spring system was the original design, 1pc spring system replaced it. Jim Maccari makes a 1pc replacement spring and his products are known to be reliable and quality pieces. Not sure which system is better since i think you can still source the 2pc spring setup from FWB.

Re: Ultradot L/T Opinions

No experience with it but does it have "click" adjustments for W&E? The instructions mention a set screw to lock the W&E adjustments in. Am not saying it won't do the job but it might not be the perfect tool for the job.

Had anyone placed an order with this company lately, are they still in business?

Placed an order sometime back and have not received any communication via phone calls or emails.

Appreciate the leads, the Wesson case looks like a winner. Unable to accept a lock but i will get over it for the price.

FWB 65/80 Case

Any leads on a nice hard case that this pistol will fit in for transport and storage? Looking for something that has real hinges, lockable, little extra room for tools and accessories?

Thought about the same thing earlier and didn't see it listed on the Steyr page. Perhaps with any luck Pardini might have an entry?

Re: Anyone Here Have An Opinion On Venturi Air Compressor

Never did get a complete fill from a paintball or dive shop, and they treat carbon fiber bottles the same as the aluminum and steel versions ie careless. The Air Venturi offers a desiccant filter on the intake in which we know doesnt do much. It might last a long time or might not, what is the life...

Re: Would would it take to make 1911 competitive

MilSpec will require sights, sight machining, extended safety, a beavertail, barrel, barrel bushing, trigger and parts... Then you have a Range Officer clone once that is done, if you decide to use the RRA bullseye scope rib PS1396 with sights then it might be cheaper as the slide will just need a f...

Re: 45 Wadcutter gun

For my Springfield RO to function with Federal 185gr SWC it just required a lighter recoil spring. Now I did pick up a Taurus 1911 and slapped a Nelson conversion on it for the rimfire portion, this is to take advantage of the 2lb trigger rule.

Re: Washing pellets

Another advantage to washing/lubing pellets is to prevent oxidation and possibly to keep the barrel cleaner. It is time consuming and if you shoot 10m it is not needed, at 75yds then it might make a difference. I just picked up a used toaster for my wash/lube process on my .22 and .25 pellets; FT an...

Re: Springfield Range Officer: EIC Leg Matches?

I am using a Springfield RO .45 for bullseye, 3.75lb trigger setup for wadcutter. The only major modification was installing a EGW MELT barrel bushing, this bushing was installed TIGHT that requires a wrench and effort to remove. This has tightened up the accuracy and combined with the KC roll trigg...

Re: Compressors

If you are still looking for a compressor, http://www.sheldensportinggoods.com

These are built around a Kidde 2.4 to 4.2cfm compressor, pretty robust and worthy of a look. I originally tried to buy a Bauer Oceanus but ended up with a Shelden 4.2 unit and it works as advertised.

Re: Number of Magazines for 2700 .22 course

I would say 3 mags minimum but, 4 would be better. Really you only need two but I like to have a backup mag, I have 5-mags per pistol for a 2700 match. More mags means you can preload before the buzzer, pick up brass, or to sit back every now and then.

I have an old 1st gen 22/45 which I hacked the grip for use with 1911 Officers model panels and installed a MKIII 4" tactical upper with the threaded barrel and underlug rail. With the SoLow mounts and the 30mm Ultra-dot Match-dot the balance is better than with the OEM 5.5" barreled recei...
