Re: Smith & Wesson for ISSF Centrefire match

I remenber that in Rome (Italy) until 1980 I've seen good CF shooters able to score well over 580 with S&W mod 14 SA. BTW there are two different questions: 1) revolver vs semiautomatic; 2) 32 wc vs 38 wc. As far as I remember the present record holder is Nestruev, he uses a TOZ 49 in 32 wc, his...

Re: What makes a pistol more "forgiving" than another?

Vibration and motion of the lockwork on the shot release may have something to do with it. I've got a Morini, Toz, and a Steyr FP. The latter is interesting . There's a distinct "clunk" on the shot release. And the Steyr is notoriously unforgiving. Oops, I’ve just bought one of those (Ste...

Re: What makes a pistol more "forgiving" than another?

A low bore line means the pistol will rotate up less from recoil. The higher the bore line, the larger the 'torque" relative to the wrist, and the more sensitive the elevation of the shot will be to variations in grip pressure. The Russians had considerable success with a free pistol with the ...

Re: What makes a pistol more "forgiving" than another?

That's interesting. I see many posts here saying the FWB 65 AP is undesirable due to its high sight plane. Hmm... With a low barrel pistol you gain in stability but the point of impact on the target depends, severely, on how you grip the pistol, shot after shot. Toz 35 has not this problem (it is n...

Re: Hammerli Free Pistols

Ahm, the Hämmerli 150 was definitely not used (nor made, not even invented) in 1964, it’s a child of the 1970’s. Haemmerli 150 (mechanical) mod. 1, 1973-1976, serial numbers 15-0001 - 15-1980, trigger weight of 10 grams possible mod. 2, 1976-1978, serial numbers 15-1981 - 15-2780, with ball bearing...

Re: What makes a pistol more "forgiving" than another?

BTW I remember that Di Donna (his record was 572 I guess) used to say that Toz was better than Morini. In general pistols having low barrels and grips with excessive angles are not forgiving, imo.

Re: How Many Air pistols Do You Own / Morini 162M or LP500

No k58 and k60. The k60 was a good pistol, with poor o-rings! Di Donna - who used a special FWB20 with a heavy barrel - tried the Pardini k60 (the very first time his score was >580) and slowly slowly transformed the k60 into the K2.

Re: How Many Air pistols Do You Own / Morini 162M or LP500

PARDINI K10
PARDINI K!2
PARDINI K2 Air
PARDINI K2 Co2
WALTHER CPM-1 Co2
STEYR LP10
STEYR LP10
STEYR LP10 gold edition
FWB P40
MORINI CM 162 El

I have to admit that the WALTHER CPM-1 Co2 made the best score (something > 570/600)

Re: FAS 6007 - finally in my hands...

I did not see the Chiappa FAS 6007 in the Italian ranges, so far. There are rumors about the strange or messy feeling of the trigger. And about malfunctions due to the magazines (but .... using the old FAS 607 magazines there are no malfunctions). BTW the price, here in Italy, is between 1,300 and 1...

BTW (nothing to do with that question above) it is possible a regulation of the absorber. Unfortunately the manual only says "screw AB setting absorber". But what is the optimal regulation?

Re: recoil absorber purpose? follow through?

The question might be the following. Does the absorber improve the score? Frankly I do not know. But I do not think that.
