Determining which pellets are the most used would be pretty difficult I think. For me, depending on my most recent test I might be using H&N for one year and then RWS the next. I was always out for whichever pellets shot the best groups, not necessarily which brand I liked. On top of that I have...

You have a great point. I definitely feel that the rifle is in no way the deciding factor when it comes to winning medals at any level. I honestly believe that the best shooters in the world could use any brand of rifle and be very successful. For me personally although i have used a Feinwerkbau air...

This would be very interesting to look at. It would take a lot of work going through pictures to double check, and actually i don't know if there are pics from some of the matches before the ISSF changed up their website. I know that several shooters who had wood/laminate stocks before have switched...

Air Rifle(brand) Medal Breakdown

Thought I should post this up before the 2009 World Cup season gets underway. I started on this after the 2004 Olympics to figure out which shooters were shooting which rifles. It turned out a lot differently than I thought actually. Hope it's informative. Enjoy Ryan Results from the 2004 Olympics, ...

Nick I think the real purpose of dry firing is to have all parts of the shot which include: set up, relaxation, trigger control, execution, etc... but without the actual "shot." One of the keys to using dry firing exercises successfully is to be able to not count shots as 10's or 9's while...

Dave To me it seems like you have a pretty solid idea on what you would like to solve with the drills, but i think it would be helpful if you were to take a different perspective on what training drills can really help you accomplish. Like i mentioned before i believe that the purpose of training dr...

If you have narrowed the problem area down to your shoulder then i would check your under garments. Do you wear a sweater of some type? Having more material between you and the jacket (within the rules) will reduce the amount of pulse that gets transfered to the rifle.

Okay, i think i misunderstood what the original poster was looking for in terms of training drills when i made my first post earlier. I think it would be helpful if you were more specific in terms of what type of problems the drills you are looking for are going to address. Hold characteristics, bal...

Physical 1. Aiming exercises without shooting coat 2. Dry firing (not just a few times, try 20-30 mins or more each training session) 3. "Up and Downs" setting up and breaking down position repeatedly to improve knowledge of ones position 4. Get outside and practice wind reading 5. Finals ...

Have you had these sauer boots for long? if you just changed to them i would suggest finding a friend who has a similar size foot but a different brand of boot and see if you continue to have issues....it just might be that sauer is not the right brand of boot for you.

I do believe that the 700 wood stock is nearly identical to the p70 wood stock. It would feel slightly different from the p70 though. I think (but am not positive) that the stainless barrel on the 700 makes it a bit more front heavy. otherwise i do belive the stocks are the same. ryan off topic: ace...

your perspective is right on about the other models being just as high quality. Sorry if it seemed otherwise but what i meant was that the feinwerkbau is the best rifle for me. I also agree that FWB is the rifle shot the most world wide and yes this should equate to more medals on the world stage. I...

I definitly believe so. When comparing it to the P70, FWB made some changes to the loading mechanism, the way the barrel clamps to the action and of course the stock. Cosmetic changes to the outer barrel sleve, addition of built in risor blocks etc. But overall they are very similar. Build quility a...

how far off center are you? If you are on the black of the target, you should be able to click and drag the "shot" to where you called it. This should move the zero of the sensor. I would suggest not using clicks to move the point of impact since the scatt sensor is hanging so much lower t...

Who makes the best air rifle?...some food for thought

Results from the 2004 Olympics, the past three world cup seasons and the 2006 World Shooting Championships. 102 total air rifle medals available (51 MAR and 51 WAR) 61 medals won by shooters using FWB (24 gold, 21 silver, 16 bronze) 16 medals won by shooters using Anschutz (3 gold, 6 silver, 7 bronz...

the idea behind using the best pellets possible is that you can eliminate the possibility of using a lot of "bad" pellets. personally i have had my air rifle tested 5+ times and have never found anything that shoots terribly bad. maybe as wide as 10.4 or 10.5 goups for air rifle. a "g...
