Re: Feinwerkbau P8X review: how to improve it?

Could someone explain to me why part A in which material is added raises the front sight?

Re: AP with straight back trigger rather than pinned

Well, I am a senior trying to remain competitive. I am looking for any improvement I can get and typically shoot 550s and occasional 560s with AP. At Camp Perry last year when WAG was moved to Perry due to covid, I finished as the Top Senior in the event. At this time in my life I am not opposed to ...

Re: AP with straight back trigger rather than pinned

Thank you all for the feedback. I will try a few changes and gather some empirical data and update this thread for others to benefit from.

Re: AP with straight back trigger rather than pinned

I have owned a few APs. My first was a Pardini. It was a constant struggle with the grip and trigger position trying to get it into as neutral a position as possible. I had to forced my wrist over so far that on shot release my hand +wrist would bounce up under the tension and the trigger position w...

Re: AP with straight back trigger rather than pinned

The Morini picture posted looks like it is straight back but if you look at the exploded diagram it is pinned and rotates.

Yes there is movement as the sear lets off. this movement generates a vector force that is not straight back depending on where the trigger is positioned.

AP with straight back trigger rather than pinned

Is there or was there ever a AP with a trigger mechanism that moves straight back verses the triggers that rotate on a pin. I find triggers that rotate on a pin to vector the force other than straight back.

Re: Is it common to set up without an overtravel stop?

An interesting question for air pistols. For .22,CF and .45 I would say trigger stops setup for a shorter stop helps in sustained fire. As there is no sustained fire for air pistol, I have questioned and tried a short length and long trigger stop. In either case I never seem to squeeze all the way t...

Re: Walther LP500 energy and fps adjustment

I did not know if the velocity was low or otherwise. The only information the man gave was 7.5 Joules. Therefore I was asking as the chrono gave me 480 fps with the Eley heavy and 516 fps with RWS R10 Pistol. Then I calculated the energy. This LP500 groups best with the heavy pellets... not that the...

Walther LP500 energy and fps adjustment

Does anyone know how to adjust the energy and fps for a LP500? It is not covered in the manuel and I cannot find any online reference materials. MIne is running about 5.71 Joules with a .53g pellet at ~ 480 fps. This seems a bit low as the specs say 7.5 Joules which should be nearer to 600 fps. Or, ...

Re: Does anyone not use the grip hand rest ?

I worked 2 practice sessions with no hand rest and with the hand rest. I shot more consistently with the rear of the rest engaged and with the front of the rest not engaged with the heel of my hand. Without the rest, grip pressure was increased in order to support the sight picture. The groups were ...

Does anyone not use the grip hand rest ?

I have been seriously working with grip pressure, hand placement and the hand rest the last few weeks as I have a right to left movement in sight picture when shooting. I have eliminated the trigger as the cause of the movement as the movement is present when the trigger is moved forward or backward...

Re: Walther SSP or a Pardini SP22

I have shot a Pardini for over 5 years. Nice gun; the best overall set of compromises.....until i shot a Matchgun ... better trigger and handling. I have one on order and will sell the Pardini BE when it arrives.

adjustment of rear sight horiz blade

Many of the newer rear sights have an adjustable blade that varies how much of the front sight one sees in depth. What is the current understanding of adjusting this blade? Less view of the front sight or more view? In my practice sessions I seem to like to adjust it to the same light on the sides o...

Re: Trigger stage load and Flow...

Reya Kempley wrote about something similar in July: https://www.ssusa.org/articles/2017/5/4/pay-attention/ Former Olympic shooting coach Bill Pullum discusses the 'flow' concept at length in the USWIRO book "Schiesssportschule Dialogues Vol I. Your analyses seem similar to what they describe? ...

Re: High Standard HS-22

I have a vintage one for sale... The High Standard has very few rounds on the frame and barrel as it has been my back up .22. Which is why I am selling it. Someone should shoot this gun more than I do. It is a early Texas High Standard Citation Model TX247 Serial Number AF00244 Original case and pap...

Trigger stage load and Flow...

I have been working with the concept of Flow, or in the zone, with my AP and trigger stage loading. First of all, I think Flow does exist although I find it difficult to define. I have read the work by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and find the empirical data as it relates to shooting not well defined. Mo...
