Re: Cheek pieces - best design?

To those who use Gemini stocks, I also struggled with the original cheekpiece until I copied Katie Gleeson and turned it around so the coloured metal bit was facing me. There's a much more defined edge on that side and whilst it may look odd I've found it far easier to ensure head position consisten...

Re: Single or dual stage triggers - discussion

Since I find it incredibly tricky to take up the first stage before coming onto aim as I lack the courage, I made my first stage incredibly short (for prone). The safety aspect is still there but it's a lot quicker to fire than a longer two stage, many others in my club have also benefitted from su...

Re: Niccolo Campriani Wins GOLD with a NON-HOODED Front Sigh

1&2) Valerian Sauveplane used a similar, if not identical sight, when he won the 3P at the European Games, this is a similar product from Centra http://www.centra-visier.de/en/products/sights/tunnels/score-crystal-fly/ Others might know where the exact product comes from! 3) It's a Pardini air r...

Re: Anschutz 6834 / Centra 57 Startline / Gehmann Comp Preci

I use the Gehmann for prone all year round and I think it is a fantastic sight. The fine clicks and short base make it very versatile, it certainly seems of a higher quality than the Anschutz 6805 which I sold to fund the Gehmann. I have not used the Centra sight but a club member (significantly bet...

Re: How to know which grip size to get?

Go with the large. The large grip on the Precise stocks (well at least the smallbore one but I assume the grips are the same) is not actually that big, two girls use them at our club with not much difficulty. I am also 6"2 with fairly large hands and if anything I found the large grip to be a b...

Re: Grip touching my left arm

Tim-

I found I needed to rotate it a bit as my arm was coming in from a wider angle, but nothing drastic.

Re: Grip touching my left arm

Hi Tim,

I shortened the butt by 2 segments, handstop back just under 2 segments too. I also moved the hook into a more central position. Cards yesterday were appalling but think that was entirely me...

Re: Grip touching my left arm

iMac After a horrifically painful outdoor shoot at the weekend I went into the range on Monday determined to fix it. I did exactly what you just suggested, I straightened the mat and shortened the stock a fair bit. I also placed my left elbow in the correct position before clipping into the rifle, p...

Re: Grip touching my left arm

So in lowering the buttplate I'd also have to lengthen it a bit and re do the grip?

Re: Grip touching my left arm

Shot at a competition today, I moved the sling further to the middle of my arm and that seemed to make things a bit better, wasn't being pulled over by it. A few photos were taken there and having studied them, I think it's my right shoulder that's causing the problem. It looks very high and my enti...

Re: Grip touching my left arm

Thanks for the replies, Bugman I've already got the pistol grip offset all the way to the right! Tim, the jacket is a good fit (from Pippa), sling if anything feels too tight and it's pulling me over. The position doesn't feel overly low (I try to avoid that) and the buttplate contact is solid. I wi...

Grip touching my left arm

I've been having issues recently with my position collapsing to the left. At the start of the shoot my left arm is pretty much straight. However, after about 7 shots my position has collapsed and the pistol grip (Gemini stock) ends up pushing into my left elbow, which is now very much underneath the...

Re: butt plate

Oh I'm rather jealous, love the look of those stocks! I'm a big fan of the Anschutz Retro, a remake of the 'Armadillo' buttplate of yesteryear. It's a very simple design, the most adjustable part is the hook which is excellent. It gives me excellent shoulder contact and was very easy set up myself. ...

Re: Is this a Anschutz 1913 or 1914 stock?

It's personal preference really, you don't know if it's heavy enough or not until you try it! Such an unhelfpul answer, having said that I would be a bit concerned that it wouldn't be heavy enough. I'm 6"2 and 220 pounds and I wouldn't consider using anything lighter than my 1913. But you may h...

Re: Something sort of weird is happening with my shots.

If it's the last shot of the three you might be thinking about moving onto the next target rather than on good shot execution. When your coach returns from holiday get them to tell you when to move on to the next target when training, could be after 1 shot, or after 5. This should help you to avoid ...

Re: (The new??) ANSCHÜTZ Match 54.30

I noticed those dreaded words at the bottom of the page... "Delivered with Transport gun case MEGA, hand stop 6226, fore-end raiser block, accessory box, screw driver, Allan key, manual and test target. Without sight set ." So I assume it comes with the extension tube but sadly (although I...

Re: (The new??) ANSCHÜTZ Match 54.30

Unless the 54.30 is a LOT more accurate (unlikely I would have thought) or a LOT cheaper I think Anschutz will be kicking themselves, Walther seem to be a 'generation' ahead of their rival now.
