My optician simply asked the measurement from eye to front sight to get the correct focal plane for my monocle (rifle). If you deal with a business that does shooting glasses, they should know the best corrections to her regular prescription that will be most affective for her.

10.9 has clip on blinders made for headbands. If used on hat brim, it is a little futher from eye (about 1/2 way down brim). If you are looking for light weight, check out http://www.shootingequipment.de . They engineer and actually produce their own equipment. Their stands are a great deal more economical and you will have a much better experience with this company.

I think your son is fine (at this point). The new rule can be viewed in various ways. What "I" think they are trying to avoid are wieghts "taped" onto the rifle. Even stick on one's that you have should be good, but then again, I am not a rules judge.
