Re: 10m Pistol League Interest

I checked the results, and through the first 4 matches of our AP season, we have had 30 different competitors shoot a match at one of the two local clubs that host the series. Not everyone shows up for every match, maybe 15 to 20 per night. So it is possible to run a league in some areas of the US. ...

Re: 10m Pistol League Interest

Interest in AP seems to be regional. In my area (Central CT) we have enough interest to have 2 matches a month alternating between 2 different gun clubs for a 12 match series. We get at least 15 participants per night. I have no way to predict how popular it will be in your area.

Yale Air Pistol Team

The CT State AP Championship is December 9 and in years past, the Yale Team has been a regular participant. This year we have not heard from Yale, does anyone have contact information for them? I know they lost their practice venue, but we never heard from them afterwards and no response to the emai...

Re: Air Pistol Durability

Thanks for information, it's good to know that I'm not living on borrowed time with my IZH or any decent quality modern AP. First club match of the season is this week.

Air Pistol Durability

After I got my IZH46M, I started tossing all the empty pellet tins in a box. I checked recently, and I have shot over to 40K pellets through it. I've had to replace seals a couple times, but other than that no repair work needed, and it still shoots very accurately. What I am wondering, is this typi...

Re: Pellet Prices over the last year

I was comparing my receipts from last couple years to the prices charged by various vendors on RWS pellets. The price increases ranged from 50% to 3x depending on vendor. Fortunately I have a year supply left, I usually start looking in the fall with no real pressure to buy now. I try to avoid weird...

Pellet Prices over the last year

I last bought pellets about a year ago and was looking to buy a new batch. The price increases seem rather surprising, at least 50% increase. Has there been a recent spike in prices or has it been trending up pretty steadily?

Re: Quiet quality pellet trap in US

I looked at the photo, and it looked exactly like my old Gamo trap. That old Gamo trap was made from thinner steel which was not a real problem except for the deflector at the back. The deflector would deform from hits from a 480 fps air pistol, and eventually shots would bounce back to the shooter....

Re: Quiet quality pellet trap in US

Is the Target Air trap essentially a heavier duty version of the Gamo trap sized for standard targets?

Re: number of a/p shooters

In central Connecticut, we have 2 AP matches every month. One in Manchester (15 to 20) and one in Meriden (10). For the state championship we get a better draw at around 30 since people travel farther for that, Yale University team shows up for that.

Percent in various classifications

Is there a website that shows what percent of people who participate in sanctioned matches make it into the various classifications beyond Marskaman?

Re: Great Indoor Pellet Trap

Norm I have often seen pellets at 10 m come back to the firing line off target carriers or the nails my club used to put together its target frames. Similar experience here. Our club which is 25 yards for bullseye, with our target carriers set to stop at 10M for AP, the pellets regularly bounce bac...

Re: Workouts to avoid?

In general, reasonable workouts one day should not seriously degrade shooting the next day. The key here is "reasonable". If your workout the day before was so intense that a good night sleep was not sufficient to recover, you were probably overdoing it. We all have much different levels o...

Re: Air pistol backstop: ballistic nylon, or kevlar, or ?

Is there a reason your backdrop needs to be something flexible like cloth? Homosote fiber boards should work nice I use the Gehmann pellet trap sold by our hosts at home with a sheet of homosote behind it in case I miss the trap. So far I never have with 29K shots but anything can happen I suppose. ...

Air Pistol In Hertforshire

There is a good chance that I will be heading over the pond to spend 3 months in Hempel Hempstead Hertfordshire UK. In order to stay in practice for the fall / winter Bullseye and Air Pistol leagues back home in the US, I am wondering if there is anywhere that I could join and practice 10M Air Pisto...

Re: 1911 Slide Mount and Recoil Spring

I don't plan on buying much factory hardball, but would like to shoot what I have on hand which is probably 1000 rounds left. I've just got the one 1911, which I use in Bullseye matches with my target loads, and also practice with, but also like to occasionally just shoot for fun or bring a friend t...
